Zpráva z akce

May 18-21st, 2016
Trebon, Czech Republic

The second ESID Eastern Spring School in Primary Immunodeficiencies was held in May 2016 in Trebon, a historical city in southern Bohemia, in the Czech Republic. The school was planned as an opportunity for young colleagues, mostly ESID juniors, to join the faculty and over 4 days discuss many interesting and novel aspects of PIDs. The school was attended by 25 participants, especially, but not only, from Eastern European countries (Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania, Malaysia, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine and the Netherlands). Ten members of faculty came from Austria, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.

The meeting consisted from 5 intensive half day sessions, followed by official and unofficial discussions. The program was complemented by a very successful “students for students” interactive case reports presentations. Basic science insight into the metabolism of adenosine in relation to primary immunodeficiencies complemented the whole program. Presentation from industry representative introduced a very interesting view on a production of immunoglobulins and enriched the scientific program. Friendly and open atmosphere facilitated discussions during the entire meeting. The possibility to participate in a school devoted to primary immunodeficiencies was very welcomed and appreciated by all attendants. This second spring school for primary immunodeficiencies proved its value particularly for young participants, and we hope that we have established a base for further similar international meetings.
