Event report
The Spring School 2025, held in Prague from April 24 to 26, brought together over 25 participants from 12 countries across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, including the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Hungary, Argentina, Belarus, Bulgaria, Poland, Serbia, Turkey, Slovakia, Italy, Estonia, and Costa Rica. This diverse international group of early-career clinicians, researchers, and specialists in immunology and related fields engaged in a rich program of lectures, case presentations, and discussions focused on primary immunodeficiencies and related disorders.
Academic and Scientific Program
The program featured four thematic blocks covering T cells, syndromic immunodeficiencies, B cells, and the innate immunity. Renowned experts, including Professors Fabian Hauck, Catharina Schütz, Tomas Kalina and Anna Sediva, delivered invited lectures on cutting-edge topics such as monogenic atopic disorders, EBV-specific immunity, and immunoregulatory disorders. Participants presented clinical case studies highlighting diagnostic challenges and therapeutic advances, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
Cultural and Social Activities
Beyond the scientific sessions, the Spring School emphasized cultural exchange and community building. The welcome dinner and evening social events provided informal networking opportunities - check out the pictures below! In one of the rare cloud-breaks on otherwise refreshingly rainy spring days, the participants had a chance to both explore the national library in Clementinum, a unique baroque reading hall, and the astronomical tower from which Tycho de Brahe made his observations, and from which a lovely view of the entire Prague could be enjoyed.
Venue and Logistics
The event was hosted at the 2nd Medical Faculty's Plzeňská campus, which proved to be a modern, bright and pleasant learning environment. Meals and refreshments were provided throughout the program, ensuring a comfortable and productive experience.
The Spring School 2025 successfully combined rigorous academic content with vibrant international collaboration and cultural engagement, contributing to the professional growth of participants and strengthening the global immunology community.
