ESID Spring School 2018

Event report

Spring School for Primary Immunodeficiencies, a traditional meeting of young immunologists interested in primary immunodeficiencies was held on 26th April – 28th April 2018 in Kutna Hora, The Czech Republic. The meeting was organized under the auspices of prof. Anna Sediva from Department of Immunology of 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and Motol University Hospital in Prague and was supported by Jeffrey Modell Centers Network, Octapharma, Shire and Czech Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology.

26 participants from the Czech a Slovak Republic, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Turkey and Hungary had the pleasure of meeting experts such as Sinisa Savic from Leeds (United Kingdom), who delivered an opening lecture on late onset RAG deficiency, and Marek Cebecauer from Academy of Sciences of The Czech Republic with keynote lecture introducing the latest microscopic methods of nanoscopic cell structures imaging.

The main topic of the meeting was innate immunity, however many of the presented cases touched on humoral immunodeficiencies, combined immunodeficiencies or other well defined syndromes with immune deficiency.

The scientific content was accompanied by colorful social and cultural programme and traditional czech cousine. The participants had an unique opportunity to enjoy a private organ concert in the picturesque Dome of St. Barbara and visit the Church of All Saints with its renownes ossuary.
