Spring PID School 2022

This year's Spring PID School 2022 took place in Kutna Hora between May 19th and 21st and was, once again, a great success. 11 participants took part in person and another 6 connected and presented online (programme attached below).

The opening keynote lecture by Fabian Hauck painted a beautiful picture of the historical evolution of inborn errors of the immunity driving our understanding of immunology and developing novel therapies and was tied together by the illustration of a novel recently published OAS1 gain-of-function immunodeficiency. Tadej Avcin's keynote lecture illustrated the overlap between autoinflammatory and immunodeficiency and presented some fascinating cases, and Filomeen Haerynck who opened the last day gave us the most up-to-date information on the immunology of MIS-C. Participants presented a mixture of educational and tricky case reports and larger research projects.

The social programme was rich as always, with tasty dinners, a hike through the city and surrounding nature, as well as a Night of Muzeums where most of us went to a tasting at a local chocolate minifactory (see photos below).

We are hoping to return to Kutna Hora next year, with a larger yet still intimate group.
